Is it still good enough?
Back in the day it might be several years before a camera company released a new camera. Today, it seems are though each brand is releasing a new flagship camera every 2 to 3 years. Do I really blame them? No! Their goal is to make money. However, it seems as though, in my opinion, many people have this false sense of need to buy the latest and greatest in order to continue to make great images. Others feel they need to upgrade because they have outgrown what they currently have. And others are new and might not quite understand certain aspects of photography and think that the gear is more important than it really is. Gear does matter, to an extent. I believe that the fundamentals of photography should be learned, and learned well before diving into the business aspect. I see many people diving head first without a true understanding of what even the most simplest of equipment can do. In a sense, photography has become a lot easier over the years compared to when we had to manually dial in the exposure with no electronic light meter. There was a time when we had to manually focus shots before autofocus came to be. There are quite a few older cameras that are still great cameras and can produce stellar images without breaking the bank. I am not sure if this is his quote or he quoted someone else, but I heard editorial photographer Zack Arias say "There will always be someone making better pictures than you with an older camera." In this video I share a little about the Canon 5D MK II as well as some images I have made with it. Thanks for visiting my blog.
